Cloudmark Inc. Chief Technology Officer Jamie de Guerre will be presenting in a panel about the major security issues consumers face as mobile multimedia devices become more prominently accessible as part of the Mobile Blueprint track at CTIA WIRELESS 2008 on April 2, 2008. To be held Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 1 to 3, CTIA WIRELESS 2008 is the largest and most comprehensive trade show in the wireless industry, serving as the premier venue to exchange ideas, create partnerships and collaborate to further wireless technologies.
De Guerre joins a panel of influencers to address real threats consumers face in the wake of increased Internet services and open access to wireless devices, including: text message spam, SMS spoofing and faking, on-network abuse and mobile botnets. De Guerre will be joined by a number of industry leaders, including moderator Frederick Rica, principal at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
De Guerre will address how the evolution of mobile handsets into multi-functional multimedia centers has left a gaping hole in wireless security. As mobile operators become virtual ISPs, network security becomes paramount for consumer safety and business efficiency. This panel, titled "Addressing Network Security in the Era of Open Access & Fully Functional Mobile Multimedia Devices", will look at the methods and strategies mobile operators must consider to secure their mobile data networks, including: whole architecture versus point product implementations; the role of various security appliances, such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, and VPN; and the new security challenges presented by emerging trends and technologies such as FMC, Wi-Fi access and IMS.
