Agilent Technologies Inc. has released a new firmware for its E5052B Signal Source Analyzer, making it more convenient and flexible for use in phase-noise and jitter measurements. Featuring an automatic PN measurement setting, context-sensitive online help and Equation Editor, the firmware update is well suited for designers and manufacturers of RF and microwave wireless communications systems, high-speed digital circuits and aerospace/defense applications.
The Agilent E5052B Signal Source Analyzer with the Revision 3.1 firmware update is used for traditional high-quality phase-noise measurements such as VCO evaluation and PLL testing, jitter measurements and signal source analysis. An automatic PN measurement setting for RF attenuation and IF gain simplifies the E5052B's operation, making it more efficient and enabling the best measurement conditions. The analyzer's operation is further simplified thanks to a new context-sensitive online help menu that provides users with easier, more intuitive instrument help.
Another key feature of the Revision 3.1 firmware update is the Equation Editor function. Added as a means to extend the E5052B's Trace Math capabilities, it provides an easier, more flexible way for users to make their own applications with post-processing of measured data or traces.
