Xirrus Inc., a provider of high-performance, long-range Wi-Fi products, and the official Wi-Fi provider of the InteropNet at Interop Las Vegas 2007, has announced successful integration of the DiVitas Networks' mobile-to-mobile convergence (MMC) solution. DiVitas Networks is a pioneer in the converged-mobile market and is the first vendor to ship a solution that truly converges cellular and Wi-Fi networks, enabling seamless roaming, back and forth, among disparate networks (Wi-Fi to cellular).
This year, the InteropNet is comprised of Xirrus' patented Wi-Fi Arrays, DiVitas' award-winning MMC solution, and wireless devices from leading handset makers, such as Motorola and Nokia.
"The official InteropNet show network was built by hand-selected, innovative vendors who have combined efforts to demonstrate the ultimate networking challenge¡ªmobile-to-mobile convergence and seamless roaming," said Glenn Evans, InteropNet lead network engineer, CMP Technology. "This year's blend of leading-edge technology at Interop Las Vegas 2007 will demonstrate how companies can easily leverage their current or future Wi-Fi investment to maximize their mobile-communications experience, gain productivity among workers, and improve their bottom line."
For time-sensitive applications such as voice and video to seamlessly provision between the Wi-Fi and Wired portions of an enterprise network, the Xirrus Wi-Fi Array offers full-featured Wi-Fi QoS (802.11e). Each wireless packet is tagged with 802.1Q Virtual LAN (VLAN) and 802.1p Prioritization at the source of each packet's transition to the wired network, instead of at a closet-located wireless controller as in competitive systems.
DiVitas mobilizes enterprise applications such as voice, IM, presence, email, PBX phone functions, CRM, etc., over any network (enterprise- and public-Wi-Fi and cellular). The DiVitas MMC solution consists of a Mobile Convergence Appliance (MCA) deployed inside the enterprise and a Mobile Convergence Client (MCC) embedded in popular mobile handsets.
