ADI Engineering Inc., a provider of wireless router boards and turnkey wireless mesh equipment, has announced immediate availability of a new version of its Pronghorn SBC wireless router board. ADI's Pronghorn SBC-210 fills the void created by the discontinued WRAP board while providing substantial improvements in throughput, high power radio support and standards compliance.

Pronghorn SBC-210 features an Intel IXP420 Network Processor at 266MHz, 32MB SDRAM, 8MB Flash, one 10/100 Ethernet port, two high-power MiniPCI slots providing up to 6.5W of continuous power per slot, 802.3af compliant power over Ethernet and a 5V power input, a Compact Flash socket, one RS-232 port, status LEDs and a reset pushbutton. Beginning late Q2 2007, the design will also feature four bits of user-defined digital I/O. The board is compatible with off-the-shelf plastic indoor enclosures and NEMA-rated outdoor enclosures.

ADI's FCC and CE certifications for the bare board and typical complete systems including MiniPCI radios and antennas allow customers to construct fully compliant systems based on Pronghorn SBC-210 in many cases without additional testing.

Software support includes IkarusOS from Antcor, WILI-S from WiliBox, Wireless Infrastructure Platform from Devicescape, and ADI's freely available Linux 2.6 kernel with MadWiFi support.

"Customers scrambling to find an alternative to the discontinued WRAP board will enjoy an easy transition to ADI's highly-scalable and cost-effective Pronghorn SBC-210," said Steve Yates, President, Founder and CTO, ADI Engineering. "This new wireless router board also offers a significant upgrade in almost every area¡§CCPU performance, data throughput, MiniPCI power capacity, and regulatory compliance."

ADI rounds out its Pronghorn SBC product family with three other versions in addition to the SBC-210, offering different configurations of CPU, memory, and I/O ports targeted at applications including ultra-low cost wireless CPEs, access points, hotspot controllers and mesh networking.
