EMCORE Corp. has announced its family of Quad (4-lane) Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) form-factor devices for copper and fiber optic media.
Enabling 20 Gbps transmission speeds, the Model QTR-3600 optical modules support 4 independent lanes of Ethernet or Fibre Channel data streams or 4x SDR and DDR InfiniBand at distances up to 300 m on multimode optical fiber. The Model QTR-3700 copper modules support data rates of 5 Gbps per lane at distances of several meters depending on electrical cable type. Both devices have QSFP form factor and can be arranged in ganged and stack configurations to increase port density. The EMCORE's QTR3600 is sampling now, calendar Q4, 2006. The QTR3700 will be available first quarter 2007.
