Texas Instruments has introduced a 1-A, bqTINY single-cell lithium-ion (Li-Ion) linear charger with enhanced thermal fold-back regulation and low dropout power management. The new 3 mm x 3 mm device will enable personal digital assistants (PDAs), cell phones, digital cameras and wireless headsets to charge more safely and efficiently from a battery charge cradle or AC adapter. Supplied in 3 x 3 mm package, bq24060 enables portable digital electronics to charge safely from battery charge cradle or ac adapter. Single-cell Li-Ion linear charger features thermal fold-back regulation and low dropout (LDO) power management. Along with integrated 1-A power FET and current sensor, it offers complete, 3-phase charge management capability. Product withstands up to 26 V input and integrates reverse-blocking protection scheme to prevent battery drainage.
