Airbee Wireless and Radiocrafts have announced a wireless application built on Airbee-ZNS ZigBee stack with Radiocrafts' ZigBee modules. The parties have executed a license agreement for Airbee's embedded ZigBee based network software. This teaming will offer a readymade platform for integrators and OEMs looking for turnkey ZigBee solutions through the use of ZigBee based module platforms and applications. The Serial Port Profile and I/O mapping (SPPIO) application present a set of versatile and powerful features to help engineers and economically deploy it in a wide range of short range wireless applications. The SPPIO application does not require special and software tools or programming ability to deploy in any application. Configuration of devices and network formation can be done using a set of easy to use AT commands.
The SPPIO application is the solution for wireless networking in applications such as Building Automation / HVAC controls / Home Security / other, where I/O data transmission to and from centralized control / monitoring / data collection is required.
The Radiocraft's RC2200AT-SPPIO is a complete off-the-shelf ZigBee based module with a embedded application profile and mesh networking protocol stack supporting Full Function Device (FFD) and Reduced Function Device (RFD) operation. The tiny module is only 16.5 x 35.6 x 3.5 mm including the integrated antenna. The module acts like a serial port modem, and in addition it offers up to 16 digital and analogue I/Os that can be mapped to any other module within the mesh network.
